I am proud and very grateful to have two of Pedro's pieces for our new kitchenware after losing everything in a CA fire last year. I lived in Spain and in Mexico as a student and have always appreciated the artistry of Talavera-style pottery. The design is intricate, the colors true and gorgeous; the pieces are elegant as weight belies the sturdiness of the pottery. Everything was expertly packed. For summer, I redecorate the master bedroom in a costal theme. These coasters are on the bedside tables to hold the cold lemon water we have there during the night if we happen to wake up and want a sip. They fit perfectly with the theme of the room and are a bit larger in circumference than I thought - which is great as this accomodates various sizes of glasses or mugs. The blue is a beautiful shade and although the design in the fish is somewhat etched, the surface is smooth and even, providing a sturdy base. They are also thick, which means I don't need to worry about heat-transfer to the oak of our tables.
