The silver around the stone has a matte finish to set off the stone to good effect. The reminder of silver has a shine to reflect light. These earrings are unusal-and real cute in my ears-haven't had them long-don't think they'll make music when I wear them. They look real good when they are seated with the top of the earring all the way up on the ear-it is a bit hard to get the earring in the circle "lock" and if done a-lot wonder if it will break.
