Carved by hand from suar wood, this sculpture depicts Jizo, a much beloved bodhisattva, or "enlightened being" in Japan. He is the protector of women and children, especially those who passed away before their parents, or were not born. Jizo is said to help them into and out of this life by easing their passage through the six "realms." Wayan Agus Satya Putra paints the reverent image by hand and adds accents in golden tones.
You can find our wood sculpture 'Jizo in Bali' by Wayan Agus Satya Putra in categories such as Buddhism Sculpture and Wood Sculpture. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
