From Bali comes this superb depiction of a teaching Buddha as he sits on sacred lotus flowers, his hands making the gesture which represents the transmission and discussion of his teachings known as the Vitarka mudra. The artisan's skill can be seen in details such as the Buddha's headdress, the drape of his robe and his slender fingers. When designing a new piece, master carver Wayan Rendah enjoys letting the wood's characteristics inspire him. In this case he works with hibiscus wood and finishes the statuette in the variegated brown shades typical of this wood.

“Nice Buddha”

This is an intricately designed wooden statue. The detailing is amazing and this buddha is on my table along with my relaxing buddha.

I just received this sculpture, and it is a beautiful worjk of art to be cherished forever. A lovely addition to my collection.
