Details

Sporting a macaw on each shoulder and flowers in her hair, this elegant Catrina statuette is a magnificent addition to any space. Luis Morales in Mexico crafts the exquisite sculpture by hand from ceramic, painting it in meticulous detail. The elegant figure is based on a satirical etching created by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada around 1910-1913. With his etching, Posada poked fun at those Mexican natives who tried to emulate the fashion and habits of the European aristocracy. Today, la Catrina has become the instantly recognizable icon of Día de los Muertos (Mexico's Day of the Dead).

Beautifully done”

I ordered this as a birthday gift for a dear friend and it is truly beautiful in person. She will be so excited when she opens it. I like it so much, in fact, that I think I am going to order the same one for myself too!

A Stunning Homage to Día de los Muertos”

After visiting Mexico and falling in love with the warmth of its people and the richness of its culture, I began searching for the perfect Catrina—one that truly honored the spirit and artistry of Día de los Muertos. I was looking for something of impressive quality and timeless beauty, and I found exactly that in this piece by Luis Morales. This sculpture is nothing short of magnificent. The craftsmanship is exquisite—formed by hand from clay and painted with meticulous care in vibrant shades of red, silver, gold, and blue. The figure has an undeniable presence; shes elegant, dignified, and deeply expressive. Every time I look at her, I m reminded of the beauty of Mexican traditions and the artistry that keeps them alive. This sculpture proudly graces my mantel and continues to spark admiration from everyone who sees it.

Art That Speaks to the Soul”

This is my second Catrina sculpture by Luis Morales, and once again, I m absolutely blown away. La Catrina Violeta is a stunning piece—full of character, color, and extraordinary craftsmanship. The detail and quality are truly unsurpassed. Every element feels intentional and masterfully executed, from the delicate features to the vibrant dress. Luis Morales clearly pours heart and skill into his work, and it shows. This sculpture isnt just a decorative piece; its a daily source of joy and admiration. I find myself pausing to appreciate it every time I walk by. A true work of art that brings beauty and spirit into my home.
