Everyone loves them
Suggesting the scenic beauty of the Kashmir valley, this jewelry box mesmerizes with its meticulous floridity. Leaves and petals appear in breathtaking symmetry, as M. Ayub hand-carves the intricate details from walnut wood. The box features a secret locking mechanism and can be opened by sliding the lower front panel of the box to the right side. It also features a removable shelf, maroon velvet lining, and brass hinges. Includes a special niche for storing your favorite ring.
Following in his father's footsteps, Ayub strives to create decorative items of superior quality. He works with Kashmiri walnut wood, which takes between two to three years to dry out completely. He uses no artificial colorings, rubbing the piece with an agate stone prior to applying a wax polish.
You can find our walnut jewellery box 'Kashmir Valley' by M. Ayub in jewelry boxes categories such as Nature Boxes and Wood Boxes. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
Preserving Traditions
Carving walnut wood is a passion for M. Ayub. He loves every aspect of this traditional art that was taught to him as a boy. A single piece can take many years for him to create; the wood must be gathered and carefully preserved before the carving can even begin. Once carved, it must be hand-rubbed with an agate stone to produce a beautiful refined finish. M. Ayub finds that many younger people do not have the patience for this craft and he fears that it is a dying art. He is dedicated to encouraging and motivating others to continue this magnificent Indian traditional craft and he stands ready to teach those willing to learn.
Enabling Education
M. Ayub proudly provides for the education of his son and daughter.
"No artificial colour is ever used on my walnut products. They are rubbed with agate stone before a wax polish is applied. It is a colossal investment in terms of time and dedication."
