By artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association, this frightening figure depicts Mictlantecuhtli, the Aztec god of death. Represented as half man, half skeleton, he makes a menacing gesture with long, claw-like nails, and his liver hangs from the thoracic cage. The artisans work in clay to replicate an image discovered in the House of the Eagles within the Templo Mayor of Tenochtitlan, an archaeological site in Mexico City.

Wonderful sculpture of a really gnarly God. This guy overlooks my bed. Reminds me of my mortality. Recently learned I have liver cancer, so helps me focus on the here and now.

Saluti dallItalia

I was so sad to hear of Mr. Ceron s passing. I am also very sorry for this overdue review for his gorgeous artwork. I have bought several of his pieces, and I genuinely cherish all of them. I will continue to buy these most remarkable and highly valued pieces of art from his family of great artists and craftsmen.
