Sukum Ruangdech's lovely oil painting depicts the "flame of the forest" trees at a historic site in Sukhothai Historical Park, Thailand. The artist uses bright orange to paint the "flaming" leaves, which contrast beautifully with the painting's otherwise cool tones.

Its a little difficult buying art online. I mean, you cant see the brushstrokes or have an interactive experience with the piece. But on Novica, I trust that all the offerings will be of quality and beauty - at least in some beholders eye! This painting far exceeded my expectations. I wanted something that would have movement in it, and nothing moves quite like water. The colors are rich, and the painting very skillful. Ive received several compliments on it in just the past few months! It seems particularly difficult to review art as it is so subjective. What I can say is that Sukum Ruangdech is very talented and highly skilled. This Impressionist painting can both invigorate and soothe when I gaze at it - which I do quite often. I can feel that water flowing between the rocks, starting its long journey to the sea, and sometimes, I imagine Im flowing right along with it.
