One of the most important gods in the Aztec pantheon, Tlaloc was the god of rain, known as 'he who makes things sprout'. The Angel Ceron Artisan Association crafts this wall mask of Tlaloc from Oaxacan yellow clay, which is first molded and then fired and painted by hand. Tlaloc was worshipped widely among the Aztec as the giver of life and sustenance.
