Fida Hussain, son of a papier mache artisan, works to preserve that artistic legacy. He creates this petite decorative box from weeping willow wood and papier mache. It is carefully painted by hand in a palette of pale grey, black and gold with a floral motif. A velvet lining cushions small treasures.

I recall my friend from India gave me an elephant decor when I moved away. I certainly can imagine these ornaments as symbolic of carrying one of the wise men that Christians celebrate at Epiphany (January 6).
