Spectators gather around while the tradition and color of the corrida de toros – running of the bulls – is played out in vivid drama. This traditional Spanish pageant of valor and grace is equally vital in Peru. Alejandro Chávez crafts the wooden box to house a retablo, or diorama and paints it with floral motifs. The figures are carefully modeled from ceramic plaster and painted by hand.

All figures are crafted separately in three dimensions, embroidered and meticulously attached to the background fabric which is topped by tassels in red and green.

Meaningful Nativity

I love this Nativity created by Dionisio Rojas. The painting of each character is beautifully detailed. Instead of Peace Nativity, I call mine, "In the Hands of God". The pictures do not capture how truly wonderful it looks.
