The Balinese artisan hand carves the sculpture from local suar wood, paying special attention to the lines and folds in Buddha's flowing robe. Finally, the wood is polished for a beautiful luster that lets its natural grain shine through.

Cradling a swan that represents peace on earth, Buddha meditates on a lotus blossom, itself a symbol of peace and love. They are skillfully depicted on the draped fold of the master's robe. Carved by hand of kadam wood, the sculpture form Suresh and Devender Garg is polished to a glowing sheen. This extraordinary image transcends time and space with noble sentiment.

This beautiful rendition of Buddha seated on a lotus flower is designed and crafted by Wayan Rendah. Using Balinese suar wood, he carves the image by hand with brilliant attention to detail. Each fold and crease of Buddha's robe and lotus petal work is depicted with expert precision. "To design these earrings, I was inspired by the shape of the milagros mexicanos or 'Mexican miracles,' a custom still preserved by many Catholic Mexicans, who will pin a steel brooch in the shape of a body part to a saint’s robe. The brooch represents an ailment in that specific part," says Maria Belen Nilson as she explains the surreal essence of these handcrafted sterling silver earrings. "Doves spreading their wings also become the face of a woman with eyes downcast. The earrings symbolize spirit's vision." The artisan crafts the design with an oxidized finish on the main body of the earrings and a contrasting highly polished finish on the pendulum-like dangles.
