I bought this piece because of its grace and simplicity and also because of the feelings of peace, tenderness and love that are portrayed in this portrait of Mary with her son Jesus Christ.
My great grandparents immigrated from Ireland to America because of the potato famine in the mid-nineteenth century. My father worked as a railroad engineer early in his career. He would have liked these iron bookends upcycled from railroad spikes. Bravo!
Bought this item for myself and it is more beautiful in person. The inside is lined in velvet if you wish to store something. Great detail in the painting and carving. Love the elephant on the top. Great workmanship.
