Kokopelli el flautista nace del mito y la leyenda; viaja por todas partes tocando melodías melodiosas que invitan a todos a bailar. Ahora adorna este extraordinario perchero, forjado en hierro por J. Blas, quien utiliza una novedosa técnica de diseño propio para cortar las láminas de hierro. El perchero está pintado a mano con una mezcla de esmalte y tonos acrílicos, lo que infunde una elegancia rústica.

Kokopelli se remonta a tiempos prehistóricos; considerado como una deidad, generalmente se lo representa con la espalda jorobada, tocando una flauta. Leyendas antiguas sugieren que Kokopelli era un comerciante tolteca que viajó desde el centro de México hasta los desiertos y montañas del sudoeste de los Estados Unidos, donde aparece en forma de arte rupestre que data de miles de años. Kokopelli tocó su flauta para anunciar su llegada y según las leyendas Pueblo, llevaba semillas, bebés y mantas en su joroba que ofrecía a las doncellas que seducía.

Para los Hopi, Kokopelli toca su flauta para extraer calor de la Tierra y así hacer crecer las semillas. Su nombre deriva de koko ("madera") y pilaú ("joroba"). Se cree que Kokopelli está presente cada vez que la vida brota de una semilla, ya sea vegetal o animal.
