Wood and ceramic nativity scene, "Christmas in Cuzco"

An angel hovers above the manger where the newborn Christ child rests. His young parents kneel in awe, Mary wrapped in a warm rebozo and Joseph in a poncho with fringe. By Erika Ulloa, this enchanting nativity scene is set in the Peruvian highlands. The artisan crafts the wooden box to house this retablo or diorama and paints it in vivid colors. The figures are carefully modeled from clay and painted by hand.
