Muy venerada y amada por el pueblo mexicano, la Virgen de Guadalupe inspira Ana Maria Gonzalez para crear una colección de cruces decoupage en su honor. En 1999, el Papa Juan Pablo II nombró a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe patrona de las Américas, y se celebra el 12 de diciembre. Su conocida imagen apareció milagrosamente en la túnica de San Juan Diego, donde llevaba rosas de Castilla como prueba de su apariencia para él. Guadalupe lo envió al obispo español para convencerlo de que construyera una iglesia en su honor. Para esta cruz, González selecciona el estandarte que la proclama como Reina de México y Emperatriz de las Américas, (Reina de México y Emperatriz de América).
