Un joven esqueleto se viste con los colores patrios de la bandera mexicana, su indumentaria la del campo rural mexicano. Esta es Catrina, que hace de coqueta. Es una dama elegante, ahora un esqueleto, pero aparentemente inconsciente de su propia condición. Su nombre hace referencia a la muerte personificada. Inspirada en las caricaturas del litógrafo José Guadalupe Posada, Catrina es un personaje importante en las celebraciones del Día de Muertos del 2 de noviembre en México. Marina Lozano trabaja en papel maché para representar la imagen extravagante y la pinta meticulosamente a mano.

This alebrije is amazing. I bought it to add to may collection of Marina Lozanos beautiful work. I tell my 7 year old grand daughter that these will be hers someday...and that they are not toys but works of art.

I was on the fence about this one but ultimately decided that the idea of a seahorse with butterfly wings with too amusing to pass up. Now that I have it it is a lot prettier than I realized from the pictures
