Ghana's Otchere Raymond designs an original mask in the name of tradition. "We must protect our traditions," encourages the Ghanaian artist. He carves the sese wood by hand and finishes the face with clay in a cream hue. Decorated with brass insets and painted accents, the regal mask is called "Oheneba Baa," meaning "king's daughter" in the Twi dialect of the Akan people.

Sankofa Gleam looks just as wonderful in person as it did on the website. I love the combination of wood and metal, and of course the design is perfect -- it has become a focal point of the room. I can tell it was made very carefully, by someone who cares about his work. It comes with a leather loop attached to the back, too, so it was easy to hang. Im delighted!
