Trabajando en alpaca bebé —el fino vellón de la primera esquila de la temporada— los artesanos de la Center for Traditional Textiles of Cusco Crea una obra maestra tejida a mano. Hileras de motivos geométricos intrincados fluyen a través del poncho rojo rubí. Su suave encanto está tejido a mano en el telar de cintura utilizando colores preferidos por las antiguas culturas andinas. Su nombre revela su inspiración en la pequeña comunidad inca de Sallac.

La comunidad cría y cuida sus propias alpacas. El vellón se lava, carda e hila a mano utilizando un pushka, o huso de caída. Los tintes provienen de plantas, nueces y corteza de árboles. El siguiente paso es uno de los más importantes, ya que el artesano prepara la urdimbre, o hilos verticales para el telar de cintura. Esto determina el tamaño del tejido, las combinaciones de colores y los patrones que se tejerán.

La intensidad del color puede variar dependiendo de la dureza del agua, la altitud y las fuentes de tinte locales, haciendo de cada textil una pieza única de arte artesanal.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!”

Not quite as warm as I thought it would be, but I wouldnt trade it for nothing. I love it. With a good warm sweater underneath it will be fine this winter. I cant tell you just how beautiful it is!!!

Not just a memory”

This bag is crafted and brilliantly dyed with quality. It is now my second shoulder bag from these artists. The colorful bag brings me back to my honeymoon 29 years ago in Peru. The quality, beauty, and practicality of Peruvian products hasn t changed.

Perfect size and well made”

Love the deep red color and glyph pattern. Quality workmanship. Perfect for carrying my large cell phone (iPhone 14 XL ) and essentials on my walks. This would make a nice present but Im keeping this one!
