Armando Ramirez transmite magistralmente la profunda concentración del impresor mientras transforma piezas de automóviles y chatarra en una escultura expresiva. El cuerpo del hombre es una bujía reciclada, sus extremidades están formadas por alambres gruesos y su cabeza está hecha de una punta redonda desechada de una máquina troqueladora. Ramírez utiliza una cadena de bicicleta, un cojinete, alambres gruesos, clavos y otras piezas desechadas para esculpir la legendaria máquina de imprimir.

Ramírez prefiere no dar a sus esculturas un acabado pulido fino, por lo que pueden presentar manchas y rayones.

“A little nostalgia!”

When I started working at the Veteran's Hospital, I taught printing and graphics as a part of Rehabilitation. One of the parts I liked best was letter-press printing, on our old Chandler & Price Press. It was cantankerous, but did great work for MANY years! It's a great reminder of the"Good Old Days".

“It will have a permanent place on his desk!”

This was a gift for my brother who retired from the printing trade after 50 years. It prompted a explanation of how the press worked. Armando did an excellent job of recreating it in such a fun way.
