This kind of master handcrafting is so beautiful but difficult to find in the USA. I was especially touched by M. Ayub?s write up about the Kashmir Valley and how he learned his craft which was historically passed from one generation to the next but attracts fewer and fewer artisans these days. The box is beautifully detailed and I feel fortunate to have stumbled across his work on Novica?s site. Thank you for sharing the gift of your artistic expression and craftsmanship with the world M. If I could have only one jewelry box...

I collect jewelry boxes and had several times more capacity than I do jewelry to store in them. However if I had to pare down my collection to one item, it would be this one. Even if I had to pare it down to only the boxes whose space I actually need, this one would be a viable contender against the option of keeping multiple boxes, especially if space was a concern. Each drawer is capacious and the shallow but ample storage in each compartment means that it would be very easy to find things. It's also very pretty, even as someone who doesn't usually go for green as a decor choice, apart from plants. The colors don't pop as much in natural light as they do in pictures, but the engravings are still really nice.
