This substantial little turtle is more a fine example of alebrije without having the slightly menacing look of many of them. the detail is amazing, and the expression on its face is wonderful - both knowing and olayful. The colors fit well with current decor while retaining a folk art feel.
What a GEM! The packaging was ingenious and so secure. The enclosure said to name this darling little creature and I did. He is now, Luis, after a beloved deacon friend who lives far away. This little guy has a glint of humor and curiousit in his face. I just love my Luis!
This is the second blue and white planter I have purchased from this artist. I have lots of Talavera pots, and these fit right in. They are well made, sturdy and good looking. The latest pot is at left in the photo.
