A sleek expanse of naturally dried sese wood takes the shape of a serious personage. By Nana Frimpong, this beautiful mask is named Nshyira nka wo, "Blessings be unto you" in the Akan language. "It is not good to make fun of people because sometimes it is a curse," the master carver says. "Rather we should encourage people who will be a blessing to us."
