Cotton and Cibaque Tree Worry Doll Handcrafted in Guatemala, "Mayan Tree"

Artisan Hector Ponce honours two traditions of his native Guatemala: the ceiba tree, which was considered sacred by the Mayans and is his country's national tree, and the muñecas quitapenas or worry dolls that are believed to take any trouble away if placed under the pillow before going to sleep. He designs a colourful worry doll of a ceiba tree in human form handmade with cotton, cibaque fibers and cotton cord.
