This colorful wall hanging is a fascinating study in working with wool. "I used a lot of details in this piece," María Uyauri explains. "This shows the process in the Andes. Sheep are sheared, the wool is washed and dyed, then spun into yarn." In the foreground, a woman weaves on a backstrap loom.
Uyauri creates this beautiful wall hanging in intricate arpillera – embroidered appliqués of fabric cutouts hand-stitched to a background of cotton. Crafted in three dimensions, each figure is lavishly embroidered. A display rod can slip through an opening at the top.

As an amateur weaver, I appreciated how this piece told the story of wool fibers, from pasture to yarn to product. Thank you!

Beautiful colors and the perfect size for my wall. I was a bit worried about how the 3D figures would survive the mail, but a little adjustment before mounting perked them right up.

I love colors and flowers so I purchased this garland on a sale. It has exceeded my expectations. Almost entirely hand sown with flowers intricately done. No two are the same and each has a unique center. A wide variety of colors. I hang garlands vertically or drape along my piano top or mantel but for weeks I coiled this one in a circle in the center of my dining room table. No fresh flowers needed, but when I bought some I coiled the garland at the base. Very, very cheery.
