This remarkable mask is the original creation of Ghana's Awudu Saaed. Carved by hand from rubberwood, the mask is then inlaid with small triangles of brass that cover the entire forehead. Colorful recycled glass beads embellish the lower part of the face, while the head and trunk of an elephant accent the upper portion. The artisan names his design Akyiglinyi, meaning "elephant" in the Ewe language.
You can find our african beaded wood mask 'Akyiglinyi' by Awudu Saaed in categories such as Eco-Friendly Masks and Brass Masks. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
Microcredit Financing
Awudu Saaed has received 6 microcredit loans with 0% interest from Kiva and Novica, the first for $200 and the most recent for $800. Proceeds were used to stock up on the raw materials he uses for his masks, vases and decor items.
