For the indigenous people in pre-Hispanic times, jade, known as ya'ax chich, represented life, fertility, and power. Guatemalan artisan Zandra Lorena Sajbin works with this ancestral stone, which showcases natural hues of dark green. She hand-carves the pendant of this necklace to feature a ring with faceted edges that gleam in the light. This necklace circles the wearer with an adjustable strand of black cotton cord.

For some time I have been searching for the perfect jade ring, looking through the pages of my favorite jewelry store, comparing details and photos, Having bought several lovely Zandra pieces for gifts for my daughter as well as myself--so I appreciate the quality of Zandras work. The size of the stone is perfect, and the silverware is lovely. My only disappointment is with the color, which I thought would be close to the light color of my Zandra earrings. My ring is not pale green as the description claims. It is deep green with no sign of any mottling. I know jade color varies, and Im wearing the ring right now with a sweater that matches nicely. Just remember that the jade in the picture is the same style but not necessarily close in color. That said, this artist is one of my favorites.
