With thoughtful features, a personage recalls the past and pays silent tribute to the ancestors. Applications of glowing brass adorn the forehead, and the cheeks are covered with recycled glass beads in brilliant colors. "This mask is used by the people of Saltpond in Central Ghana during the Odambea festival," Abdul Aziz Mohamadu explains. "The festival commemorates the migration to their present settlement." He names the piece Kia We Kye – "remember your past" in the Akan language.
