Sculpted from warm crocodile wood and painted by hand, the calm face of a monkey suggests its intelligence nature. Gusti Ngurah Semarajaya carves this extraordinary image, fashioned as a jewellery box. honoured for their role in saving Sita in the Ramayana, monkeys are beloved creatures in Balinese society. Although they sometimes disrupt temple ceremonies with their antics, monkeys are welcomed for they are regarded as sacred.

“This is a cherished heirloom…”

As with the wooden doll, spiritual seeker, this is to a mystical creation. My husband continues to comment on the skills and imagination it took to create such a piece. Again, many thanks. If any one is considering purchasing one of Gusti creations, the answer is an overwhelming YES!!!
