For the indigenous people of pre-Columbian America, especially the Mayas, the ya'ax chich or "jade" meant life, fertility, and power. It was the most precious object, even above gold. These dangle earrings, by Guatemalan artisan Zandra Lorena Sajbin, feature dark green pear-shaped jade discs on silver ear wires with an etched gecko design.
Says Sajbin of her designs, "God has given us the wonderful gift that is nature: flora and fauna. These pieces represent all those domestic or wild animals that we can appreciate in all parts of the world."

These earrings arrived yesterday and they are beautiful! I immediately put them on. With the hook closure on the back, they were difficult to unhook. And I had to bend the metal to open it up wider to be able to insert in my ear. Then I had trouble closing the clasp and then opening it again to take off. Im worried that bending the earring every time I wear them will weaken the integrity of the metal and they may break. The metal is very soft and pliable.

I wear this ring often, especially when I will be in an environment where I can network with like-minded souls.
