Neighbors work together during the rice harvest in this elegant batik painting. Gusti Made Sujana shares the spirit of togetherness, or otong royong. This system of communal aid is characteristic of this traditional Indonesian society. The only reward expected by participants is the satisfaction of having helped their neighbors to have a better life. All tasks become easier when shared by more than one and this belief in reciprocated obligations is an integral part of daily life to the Balinese.

Just another great addition to my Indo collection. I really like this artist. Please keep in mind that his artwork comes as a rolled canvas that you will have to have stretched over a frame (if you want it framed) and this will add cost to the piece. ($75 - $ 100)
