With eyes wide open, an aged man gazes into the past and lifts his voice in a song of the ancestors. Rita Sandoval takes her inspiration from Western Mexico archaeology to craft a terracotta ocarina. These whistle-like flutes are thought to have been used in pre-Hispanic ceremonies.
