A multicolored horse appears like a mystical creature at the center of this original wall art composition by Edgar Trejo. Inspired by a spirit of innovation, the Mexican artist brings together Otomí and Hindu art in the design of this amate or fig paper composition centered by a hand-embroidered panel. Trejo prepares the paper by hand with techniques he learned from his father and uses natural dyes for color.

Fernando Castro crafts a magnificent sculpture inspired by the Peruvian horse, known as el caballo de paso. Introduced by Spaniards during the colonial era, these horses have played an important role in the history of the Americas. The horse is carved by hand of dark mahogany to feature an impressive level of detail. An intricate leather saddle and straps are accented with sterling silver.

"Nicaragua's Gueguense is a very important folk dance, representing protest against colonial rule with texts that originated in the early 1700s. I want to share our proud traditions through this collage," Juan Carlos Moreno says. He depicts a colorful dancer in a feathered headdress, carrying a lance and a horse mask. Recycling dried corn husks, the artist dyes the natural fibers and mounts the composition on card stock. A coat of resin protects the images, which are presented in a mat board passe-partout.

Strong and proud, a chariot horse comes to life in deep jade green. Duangkamol depicts the steed in fine celadon ceramic with the characteristic crackled glaze of true celadon. This artistic style came from China around 1250 B.C.

Bali's Ketut Rediana masterfully carves this pair of horse heads from native suar wood, using polished onyx for the eyes. The sculptures exhibit breathtaking realism, right down to the musculature, manes, and facial expressions.

The imaginative mind of Armando Ramirez transforms scrap metal into a sleek, black and silver chess set. Ramirez collects the leftover metal pieces off a die machine and shapes them into the pawns, horses, and parts of the kings, which also feature cogs from a car's electrical system. The queens are made from screws, auto part cogs and bearings. The bishops are shaped from spark plugs and the towers from cogwheels. The board is made from a metal sheet and features ornate iron wires and bendix caps taken from a car.

Please note it is the artist's intention not to give his sculptures a fine polished finish, therefore smudges and scratches may be present. The finish can vary from matte to shiny, as each chess set is a unique piece of handcrafted art.

Heroic and noble, these horses leave their usual gallant aura to create a tender family scene that invites you to reflect on your connection with loved ones. Thai artist Surangrat uses acrylic on canvas and a traditional style to paint this impressionist composition, whose combination of black and yellow hues exudes majesty.

The artwork arrives signed and unstretched.

"In West Africa, it is thought that the horse was the first creature to inhabit the earth," says Ghanaian artisan Salihu Ibrahim. Working in native sese wood, he carves a bearded man from the Dogon tribe on horseback.

Indian designer Amit Moza presents this gorgeous bedspread to celebrate the magnificence of animals while bringing a traditional craft into the modern home. The antique white cotton bedspread is skillfully crafted by local artisans with intricate chain stitch work that can take up to 20 days to complete by hand. The wonderful design features an eclectic selection of wildlife living together in harmony; from ducks swimming happily in a pond, to graceful deer roaming the grassland. The solid cotton backing adds durability to the beautiful textile.

Balinese artist Made Pasek Kusuma Wijay chooses to express his plea for world peace in a painting depicting a woman's prayer. "The state of the world is not fine, given the many wars, conflicts between countries and very heartbreaking human tragedies," says the artist. "Let us pray sincerely that the world situation will return to peace as we strive to live a more simple, carefree life with mutual respect and tolerance between our existing differences. Despite the conditions of the world, we always yearn for peace itself.

"Galloping across a surreal mountain landscape, a team of horses carries forward the hope of an entire society from the lofty reality of the highlands to the life of the commoner below. Riding on the back of a bird resembling the Hindu god of strength, Garuda, a faceless woman prays to the divine spirits, having passed through a period of blood and turbulence. Garuda also prays with his human-like hands as if to encourage himself to continue his mission of vigilance.

"Reflected in the grass of the mountains, the woman's prayers mirror above and below the path of the raptor, symbolizing the transverse support from across the country for her mission. A handshake arises from the woman's mind in a floral accord between two immortal parties.

"In a world plagued by conflict and the horrors of violence, the woman's prayer, the subtle handshake and the impressive flight of the god of strength prescribe peace for all of humanity. Realism cannot deliver this humane desire to reality.

"Scaled to surreal proportions, the woman's prayers make multiple appearances in increasing size, while the mighty bird soars above an entire team of horses, with various hands apparent."
