Two sets of adorable birds come together in this lovely pair of earrings by Maria Belen Nilson. She works each bird with meticulous detail and combines them with a flower decorated with a small turquoise.

Born in Argentina, Maria Belen moved to Mexico as a young woman. After living all over the country, she moved to Taxco where she worked as an apprentice under some of the town's best-known masters. She now runs her own workshop where she creates pieces that honor the traditions of her adopted homeland.

The embodiment of elegance, these lovely, lacy earrings are handcrafted by Mazahua Family artisans. Working in sterling silver, they create crescents suspended from a flower with shining pendants that dance below. In the center, amethysts total 1.5 carats.

For generations, most Mazahua women have worn earrings in the shape of a half moon, as these are gifts from the husband in lieu of an engagement ring.

Fanning out like gossamer petals, this design conveys the precise, fluid movements and mystical rhythms of the Marinera dance. It recreates the sea of emotions surrounding flirtation, attraction and falling in love, and is considered Peru's national folkloric dance form. "The Marinera is elegant in its movements. The women dance barefoot in long, full skirts and filigree earrings – like these – that dance along with them," Giuliana Valz-Gen says. She works in silver, bathing the earrings in 21k gold.

Doves, the birds of peace and love, flit in and around an ornate diamond-shaped frame in this pair of handcrafted sterling silver chandelier earrings. Designed by Maria Belen Nilson of Mexico, the earrings have a sense of movement and play thanks to sterling silver circles and teardrops that hang from the bottom of the frame.
