The Mazahua are an indigenous people of Mexico with a rich artisanal tradition. The Mazahua Family of artisans creates these gorgeous chandelier earrings, tapping into some of the traditional folk art motifs of the country. Crafted of sterling silver, the long earrings feature flaming hearts topped by little doves.

By Roy Nilson, these long sterling silver earrings reveal the influence of pre-Hispanic Aztec art. He creates discs of varying sizes to cascade from slender loops. The topmost disc wears a silver headdress of feather-like textures and is centreed with natural turquoise.

Fanning out like gossamer petals, this design conveys the precise, fluid movements and mystical rhythms of the Marinera dance. It recreates the sea of emotions surrounding flirtation, attraction and falling in love, and is considered Peru's national folkloric dance form. "The Marinera is elegant in its movements. The women dance barefoot in long, full skirts and filigree earrings – like these – that dance along with them," Giuliana Valz-Gen says. She works in silver, bathing the earrings in 21k gold.
