I purchased my first Subrata Barong mask 25 years ago, and it guards the door of the family house since that time. When I established my own consulting business and needed a "work apartment" I went to Novica to see if I could find another piece by the Subrata Paterfamilias, Nyoman Subrata, who carved our old Barong mask and also a beautiful mer-person sculpture that I have at work. I was sad to see that he had left us, but delighted to see that another family member carries on his legacy. Very happy with this new Barong, who watchfully guards the door to my work residence.

Barong is now busy protecting the house, frightening evil spirits but grinning heartily at the rest of us. He has added a colorful and life-enhancing presence that is a delight to encounter daily. After his arrival I particularly enjoyed watching Barong dance rituals on YouTube and highly recommend them to anyone contemplating ordering the mask since you’ll understand his significance and character better. Incidentally, I had no trouble hanging him on the wall with a tiny bit of ingenuity.

Mr. Curi creates wonderful treasures. This has deep sea tones, and is full of life and movement. It is a great size for smaller apartments, or lengthwise above a fire place, or in an entry way. Highly recommended.
