I love this little mirror! When you look closely, it's obvious an artist hand-painted the design and that makes it even more special to me. It hangs in my living room and makes me happy when it catches my eye.

A most BEAUTIFUL and loved glass wall mirror!

Product picture

I have two wall mirrors from Mr. Luzalde, this one and 'Cusco Corona'. I mention this because I realize that although both mirrors are very different, I have a real problem trying to decide which I love best! They are both the most BEAUTIFUL mirrors I have ever owned. 'Colonial Fleur de Lis" has a rectangular frame with large silver fleur de lis that have a circular turquoise glass center. Inside that, the frame has a thin gold rather geometric design. I love this mirror and enjoy it every day! 'Cusco Corona' is strikingly unusual, very modern looking (to me), and very beautiful. It is circular and uses silver, gold and copper colored sun-like effects. I love it and enjoy it every day! Thus, two reviews together.

Exquisite

Product picture

My Peruvian grandmother had a mirror very similar to this hanging in her entryway for decades. This is such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship that makes my home feel a bit more "homey" and the colors are gorgeous. Shipping was quick and the piece was carefully wrapped to ensure no damage. I'm so glad that I was able to find this instead of having to track down a similar mirror on a trip to Peru!

Colonial Mirrors

Veronica Ossio doesn’t take all the credit for her works. When she looks at one of her mirrors, made of Peruvian alabaster, she admires the details of nature’s stonework and its direct record of regional history. A colonial mirror from her not only captures the character of the time, but incorporates authentic relics from the period. In part of his effort to preserve Peruvian tradition, Edmundo Contreras makes colonial mirrors of this style, recognizing the fusion as a part of Peru’s history. He also uses techniques passed down and creates his hand painted mirrors by reverse painting. Those in the Nahuala Artisan Cooperative fashion colonial mirrors to improve their living conditions and maintain pride in their countries and themselves.
