Reverse-painted glass, introduced to Peru in the 17th century, is now a revered Peruvian art form. The Ortiz Family brings to this craft a unique conflux of influences. Their repetitive geometrical and symmetrical patterns owe their origins to Inca pottery, but their coloration is drawn from the multi-hued blue and gold tiles found in North Africa and Spain. Our glass-topped wooden tray is handcrafted in the family's workshop in Peru.

This is a substantial piece that is a bit darker in person than it looks online. A great gift for someone who entertains frequently- very unique and lovely.

The pictures of this item make it look like a color intermediate between purple and pink, however in person, under natural light, I would describe it as being redder/pinker and I would probably describe the color scheme as just pink, maybe with hints of purple. The top panel also looks white in natural light. As purple is my favorite color Im a little bit disappointed in that, and yet despite that, it is really amazing work. Had I known what it would look like in natural light, its possible that Id have gone for Cajamarca Splendor by the same artists, which is a bold combination of secondary colors including purple. However, regardless, I am very happy that I have one of these cabinets, and this color scheme would have been one of my top two finalists for which one I wanted, regardless. I am very happy to have it; it is such a neat piece, and I am amazed that when you consider how much it would cost to ship this much glass from the Andes, they can offer it at this price.
