Mary and Joseph are thrilled with their tiny child, born on the first Christmas. Wending their way toward the stable, the Three Kings are mounted on camels. They bring rich gifts to the Christ child. By Maria Ramos Sanchez, this beautiful Christmas stocking is a superb example of the Andean art of arpillería. The motifs are created with patchwork; the diminutive figures are crafted in three dimensions and embroidered by hand.

I purchased this to carry my pens but when it arrived it was just too beautiful to be tucked away in my bag so I put it up on my wall. The craftmanship is spectacular and I just love looking at it.

as a hanging for the nursery a few months before their first child was born. But my sister-in-law is a big traveler and it was fine for a boys or girls room, so I offered it. She was delighted and her mom designed the babys room around it (llamas on the curtains!). They used it for both kids. One would regularly insist on being held up to look at it carefully after a diaper change. I always try to be a cool auntie. This wall hanging was my first success.

My new pencil case is too pretty to use. The craftsmanship is excellent and the colorful scene is delightful. Thank you, Maria.
