Alternating spirals and abstract designs fill the checkerboard squares on Edward Lamptey's decorative wall hanging. In Ghana, the artisan sketches his design onto cotton cloth using pencil and warm wax. He then colors the fabric blue and white with a resist dyeing method called batik.
