Combining form and function to create something that is unique and timeless, artisan Nengah Sudarsana hand carves this attractive scratcher from native suar wood. First employed by the ancient Chinese, back scratchers are a practical tool that have been used by people from all walks of life across the globe for thousands of years. The artisan completes his design naturally, with a cute smiling cat face at one end, and the paw used for scratching at the other.

The wood, and carving, is beautiful; but I have one criticism: the paw is rounded off too much, so it doesnt actually scratch enough. It is more of a massage feel, and does not take care of the itch, it rubs the itchy area but does not get rid of the itch; and I would love it if the back scratcher had some scratch to it. If it had a bit of an edge on the paw, it would be perfect. I do love it though, just not for scratching my back so much.

Love this sculpture and beautifully crafted. The grains of the wood stand out and enhances its presentation. As displayed, it has a calming affect and helps to reduce stress whenever I look at it. Just the right size to fit anywhere and not too small to detract from its detail. The cats eyes are what drew me to this sculpture from the outset.

My coworker is a fisherman and she also loves saving the turtles in Florida. This was the best gift she d received, and it was as if I gave her the world. The craftsmanship was perfect, and as always made with lots of precision and Care.
