Wagging a hollow tail, a potbellied dog wears a human mask. A pair of canine dancers accompanies him, waltzing to ancient rhythms. Artisans from the Angel Cerón Artisan Association depict the itzcuintli, a cheerful, barkless breed prized by ancient man. Sculpted in clay as funerary offerings, they accompanied their masters in death to aid the soul in crossing rivers of blood along the road of the dead.

I was so sad to hear of Mr. Ceron s passing. I am also very sorry for this overdue review for his gorgeous artwork. I have bought several of his pieces, and I genuinely cherish all of them. I will continue to buy these most remarkable and highly valued pieces of art from his family of great artists and craftsmen.
