Copper and bronze mask, "Great Wiracocha"

Holding a staff in each hand, Lord Wiracocha appears with glorious artistry in a mask by Angel Franco. Wiracocha is the Inca lord creator, the supreme deity in the Inca Pantheon. He is also regarded as the substance from which all things are created. Adapting elements of the original stone carving, Franco works with bronze and copper to create admirable contrasts that enhance the detailed mask.
