Etched Wood Mask with Elephant motif from Ghana, "Elephant"

This striking design is the original creation of Ghana's Elias Dela Dorkenoo. The mask is hand carved from native sese wood, with a magnificent elephant carefully etched on the forehead. The sharply angular visage has etched lines across the cheekbones that are reminiscent of tribal scarification.
