Working in the time-honored art form of reverse-painted glass, Peru's Ortiz Family creates this small but beautiful jewelry chest. Featuring two drawers and an upper compartment with a mirror, the wooden chest is covered with glass panes that have been painted on their reverse sides with detailed motifs in subtle gradients of green. Gleaming gold paint is applied to the trim.

This is a substantial piece that is a bit darker in person than it looks online. A great gift for someone who entertains frequently- very unique and lovely.

The pictures of this item make it look like a color intermediate between purple and pink, however in person, under natural light, I would describe it as being redder/pinker and I would probably describe the color scheme as just pink, maybe with hints of purple. The top panel also looks white in natural light. As purple is my favorite color Im a little bit disappointed in that, and yet despite that, it is really amazing work. Had I known what it would look like in natural light, its possible that Id have gone for Cajamarca Splendor by the same artists, which is a bold combination of secondary colors including purple. However, regardless, I am very happy that I have one of these cabinets, and this color scheme would have been one of my top two finalists for which one I wanted, regardless. I am very happy to have it; it is such a neat piece, and I am amazed that when you consider how much it would cost to ship this much glass from the Andes, they can offer it at this price.
