Details

Sensuous lips and sloe eyes of sese wood confer a sleek beauty on this elegant mask. An ornament of beads and cotton thread adorns the nose and richly embossed brass covers cheeks and forehead. Among the Akan people of Ghana, this mask is believed to scare away the spirits of calamity. Juliana Akandas names her design Mumah Po, which means "big forehead."
