This regally-clad elephant, undoubtedly belonging to a royal house, is crafted by Fida Hussein in India. The princely pachyderm is crafted of weeping willow wood and then covered with papier mache. It is then sanded smooth the artisan paints it in meticulous detail. The robe and headdress depict court scenes of the Mughal era.

Another exquisite bird for my large bird collection. Colors are fantastic, the finish is very smooth and elegant.

These bird ornaments are absolutely exquisitely crafted and painted. I loved them so much that I bought a 2nd set for myself. I sent a set to my sister-in-law who was absolutely delighted to add them to her tree.

I recall my friend from India gave me an elephant decor when I moved away. I certainly can imagine these ornaments as symbolic of carrying one of the wise men that Christians celebrate at Epiphany (January 6).
You can find our wood and papier mache sculpture 'Mughal Elephant' (14 inch) by Fida Hussain in sculpture categories such as Animal Themed Sculpture, Cultural Sculpture, Hand Painted Sculpture, Wood Sculpture and Papier Mache Sculpture. Enjoy exploring these sections for other Novica treasures.
