Handcrafted Archaeological Mask, "Great Ai Apaec I"

The supreme deity of the ancient Moche, Ai Apaec reveals his presence as a powerful mask. He is associated with the jaguar; thus his depiction bears feline features. Ai Apaec's image usually adorned the breastplates of high-ranking Inca functionaries. They wore them throughout their lives and were buried with them. Angel Franco is inspired by the original museum piece, though he adds personalized details. He works with bronze and copper as he creates contrasts of color and texture in the crafting of this mask.
