The lavish leaves of the chinar, or Old World sycamore flaunt their golden beauty against a dark blue background. Mohammad Hussain Baba crafts a crafted diminutive decorative box, perfect for small personal treasures. He works in the style of Kashmir, crafting the container of weeping willow wood. He then covers it with papier mache in an art form that originated in Persia in the 15th century and paints the golden floral images by hand. They are protected with a coat of lacquer.

“A work of utilitarian art!”

You can set a glass down on any old thing, but these coasters are little works of art, each one beautifully designed and crafted. The design and colors are eye catching. The box that they are contained in is admirable on its own. This is a wonderful detail for my living room. Once again, thank you to the artist, Mohammad, for the beautiful work.

“Wonderful Little Splash of Art and Color”
