Inspired by tiles in a Mughal palace, Sajad creates a beautiful Kashmiri rug. The intricate patterns are drawn on a cotton backing, and embroidered by hand with soft woolen floss. The technique of chain-stitched rug crafting was introduced to India by Persia in 1460.

I love the rich colors and the design. The blues are much more striking than in the photo. It appears to be well constructed and I enjoy thinking of the person who so carefully made this rug. This is a carpet that probably would not withstand heavy traffic such as in an entry hall, but it is perfect for our guest bedroom.
